African
American males suffer disproportionately from social ills in our
society. These include inadequate education, housing, high
unemployment, poor health care and the criminal justice system.
The dismal state of African American males inspire the most fervent
energy and sense of urgency. Nonetheless, the efforts toward
studying the African American male are lagging in analysis and proposed
solutions. Emphasis is being placed on developing and distributing
quality research information to decision makers that address the plight
of the African American male. The Boukman Institute is attempting
to influence those decision makers to draft and implement a response to
the crisis facing the black male.
