It is common knowledge
that there is a wide disparity between the health of African Americans
and other population groups in the U.S. For many health
conditions, African Americans bear a disproportionate burden of disease,
injury, death and disability. African American health disparities can
mean earlier death, decreased quality of life, loss of economic
opportunity, and perceptions of injustice. The Boukman Institute plans to study
healthcare disparities, and will place emphasis on developing policies
that help eliminate health disparities in
the African American “community.”
